For me, it’s all about connecting. My greatest joy is getting to know you, so to keep things fair, you can get to know a little more about me here.

Why do I do what I do? I get asked that a lot! In 2003, I lost two family members within weeks of each other. I was devastated. As part of my healing process in grief counseling, I was encouraged to develop something I was passionate about. I have always loved photography and I turned to it as a tool to help me crawl out of my depression. As I pursued the craft and honed my skills I found that even more than loving photography, I discovered a love for you – the people I get the privilege and honor of photographing. It’s not uncommon for us to become friends. If you find me staring at you it’s probably because I love seeing the light in your eyes and your beauty come forth as we spend time together. I love catching that silly glimpse when you don’t think I’m looking, or the way your hair dances in the wind with the sun filtering through. Capturing the subtle nuances in your relationships that you cherish…the things that you can’t imagine living without…the way you hold hands, the way your baby looks at you that melts your heart…the way you spend your days doing the ordinary things that turn out to be the special things…that’s what makes me tick! I was created for this.

I’m a country girl at heart, but I can rock it in the city too. I’m the most alive when I’m outside. I find it funny that half of my career is spent in front of the computer screen. But the other half makes up for it! Plop me on the beach and I’m happy. If I could be turquoise water, I would be. I get lost in a good sunset. I can’t get enough caramel corn, warm, crusty sourdough bread with minestrone soup or Swedish Fish. The red ones. I hiccup, only once, every time I take a sip of soda or eat a pretzel. I live for sunshine followed by warm summer nights, sharing lunch with my girlfriends, traveling to exotic locations and the dream of one day having a house keeper.

I’m so blessed with a wonderful family. I’ve been married to my Jay longer than anything else I’ve ever done. I am a mother to three on earth and two in heaven. They keep me going. And going. And going. To the store. To the mall. To volleyball games. To youth group. To guitar.  To the post office to send money up to college!  You name it…we go! No sitting still for us! And I wouldn’t’ trade my crazy life for anything. My family is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. That’s precisely why I’m so excited about telling your story. I want you to always be able to remember the moments, places and seasons that you’ve come to cherish.

If any of this resonates for you, let’s connect and keep the conversation going!

A Huge Thank You to Sarah Dawson Photography for the amazing photos of me and my family.
