How would you describe your style of photography?
I consider myself a lifestyle photographer. I love capturing life as it happens. My style is fresh, natural and simple. I love telling your story. I will interact with you and give you some direction here and there, and I will also just let the moment unfold and capture it as it’s happening without prompting. I love capturing the genuine smiles and also pensive looks that can’t be manufactured. You won’t catch me asking you to “say cheese!” If you prefer that style of photography, then I’m probably not the right fit for you. I love hanging out with fun-loving, down-to-earth people who appreciate art and the finer things in life. If you feel a connection to me through my work, then we are a good match! I want to work with families and individuals who put a high priority on photography and style and are moved by this medium of art. And since photography is one of the only things that gives us lasting memories of the ordinary things that become the special things, I’m pretty sure you want your images and collections to be amazing!

How long does a typical session with you last?
Typically we spend 2-3 hours together. With newborns I find that necessary to allow time for soothing, feeding, diaper changes and time to get what you’re looking for. About the same for lifestyle shoots where we are documenting family life. (you know…cookie baking takes a while! And I always stay until they come out of the oven!!) If you take me on vacation with you to preserve your wacky times together and your special traditions that you never want to forget, than I’ll probably be with you all day. How fun is that? A typical vacation shoot might include documenting chillin’ at the cabin, playing cards late into the night, swimming at the pool or beach, eating Grandpa’s famous cinnamon rolls he makes every time, that stellar round of golf you always have, the adult night out for margaritas at the favorite cantina you always go to, and just hanging out!! If we are just taking “regular” family photos, I’d say plan 1-2 hours.

Do you shoot weddings?
Not really. I have second shot for a few and I have shot a few of my own weddings. I love wedding photography and I do a decent job at it, but it’s not my passion. And on that day, you deserve to have a photographer that is passionate about that craft. Now, if I’ve become part of your family and you JUST HAVE TO HAVE ME, we can talk. But chances are I’m going to be able to talk you out of it and recommend several AWESOME wedding photographers that you can hire instead of me. And anyway, if I’ve become part of the family I’d rather be a guest at the wedding and dance with you all night!

Even if you aren’t shooting our wedding, can you do our engagement session?
I can totally do that, but to be honest, it’s to your advantage to have your wedding photographer do that session. It gives you a chance to get to know each other before the big day. Your images on wedding day will be so much better if you spend that time and get to know how you work together. I promise. How about giving me a call a few years later when you find out you’re going to have a baby or you want to document a really special date night?

Can I get my images on a CD?
Yep! You spoke and I listened! With my larger collections, a CD of all your high resolution digital images are included. For smaller collections that do not include digital files, they are available for purchase at an a la carte price.

What’s the process to view and order our images after the shoot?

  • Before the shoot, we’ll schedule a creative ordering session for about 3-4 weeks after the shoot.
  • About 10 days before the creative ordering session, I’ll send you a link for a quick peek of your images online so that you have some time to think about how you want to display the images and tell your story.
  • At the ordering session, we’ll go through your images together, either at your home where we can plan strategically and decorate together or another predetermined meeting place. You’ll pay for your order in full at this meeting.
  • Your art will be delivered to me approximately 3 weeks after our ordering session.

When am I responsible for payment? Do you offer payment plans?
The creation fee is due upon booking your session and is non-refundable. I understand that real life happens. Kids get sick, circumstances change and I am happy to reschedule your session in situations like that if you give me 24 hours notice. Your artwork is paid for in full upon ordering and is also non-refundable due to the level of custom artwork. I accept cash, check, Visa, M/C and offer flexible payment plans. We’ll make it work for you.

I don’t live in your area….will you come to me?
You bet! I’m a worldwide traveler. If there’s anything I love as much as photography, it’s traveling and being inspired by beautiful places! The cost to do that varies depending on location. I generally serve the greater Sacramento Valley Region, including the foothills area, Roseville / Rocklin / Lincoln and Folsom / Granite Bay / El Dorado Hills areas, stretching into Grass Valley, Truckee and even down into the San Francisco Bay Area.

I noticed that there aren’t a bunch of traditional posed family portraits in your galleries. Why is that and can you provide that if we want it?
While I will try to sneak that in if it’s something you really want, those aren’t the creative images I’m most proud of. My passion is to capture the natural expressions and emotions that unfold as we spend time together. The posed family portrait definitely has its place and I’m not knocking it, but I’m much better at creating a collection that tells the unique story that only belongs to your family. I thrive with clients that want their interactions as a family documented and are looking for a creative way to tell that story through wall collections, coffee table style albums and custom designed products.
