{savor} :: to taste and enjoy it completely : enjoy or appreciate (something pleasant) completely, esp. by dwelling on it

I decided to start a series about {savoring} the moments in life that mean the most.  After losing Laurel, sending Kyle off to college, and getting a new son, Evan…I’ve been spending a lot of time doing that lately. And I’m convinced it’s one of the most important things I do in order to have a beautiful life.  Because a beautiful life is made up of beautiful moments…and that comes with savoring.  ESPECIALLY when it comes to family and friends.  We spent an entire weekend recently watching home movies.  We laughed until we cried…and then we cried until we laughed.  I was amazed at how much I had forgotten.  How little my kids seemed and hearing their little voices brought me right back…it felt like a lifetime ago, and also like yesterday.  Now that I have a son gone to college, the older photos and home videos are taking on new meaning. They keep those memories preserved and I know that at any moment, I can relive them.  There are some seasons of life that I NEVER want to forget…ever…and this next one I’m about to show you is one of them.  I never, ever want to forget the magical time of being four years old.

Being four is FAVORITE.  It’s FAB.  It’s FUN.  It’s sooooo incredibly FREE.  It’s the best age in the world.  Four year olds are silly and uninhibited and life just flows through every fiber of their being. They receive love freely and give it away in spades. Her giggles are free and so are her smiles.

Abby is no exception.  She is constantly changing her clothes…our little fashionista! She dresses up, then down, and then dresses the black laborador, Olive. She’s an expert accessorizer. She’s pretty proud of all the new things she’s learning…especially about learning to tie her shoes and riding her tricycle.  She sings like a lark and has the repertoire of the best singers in the world.  She can recite just about every Disney character created in about 2 seconds flat.  She can use sign language (she told me she loved me as you can see!) and impresses me continually with her crazy imagination.  She recently told me, when I asked her what we should name our new golden-doodle puppy (don’t judge!) that we should name her “Lightbulb…no wait…Flashlight…no wait…Computer!!  Or how about Mary Poppins?”  I think she must have been scanning the room.  She has her silly ideas about where babies come from and all is well and good in Abby World.

Four is favorite and so is Abby. She calls me “Auntie” and I call my little pixie “Sugar Pea”.

You absolutely captured her essence!!! I’d make millions if I could bottle and sell her energy. She keeps us young and thank you for celebrating her love of life!!! Now if I could just keep her four forever…
